Prof. Eduardo G. Pereira

Dr. Eduardo G. Pereira is a worldwide recognized scholar specialising in Natural Resources and Energy Law. He is a founding partner at the International Energy Law Training and Research Company as well as at the International Energy Law Advisory Group. He has been active in the natural resources and energy industry for more than 15 years and is an international expert on oil and gas contracts and regulations. His experience in this area – both academic and practical – is extensive. He has practical experience in over 50 jurisdictions covering America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He possesses positions as a full-time, part-time, honorary, adjunct and/or visiting scholar in a number of leading academic institutions around the world. He is also a managing editor for the GSENRLJ and an associate editor of OGEL. He is also the author and editor of several leading oil and gas textbooks.

I am admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales (1991) and in Hong Kong (2000). I have advised in connection with oil and gas matters since 1994. I have previously served as in-house counsel with Exxon Corporation (1994-1997) and as the general counsel of Centrica Energy (2007-2010). I have been a partner in several major international law firms and I have previously lived and worked in Asia (Singapore and Hong Kong) for almost ten years. I served as the editor of the Journal of World Energy Law and Business, the journal of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), from 2008 to 2021 and before that I was the editor of the International Energy Law Review. I am a former chairman of the oil and gas law committee of the International Bar Association. I have lectured on oil and gas at several universities. I am a Visiting Professor in Law at Austral University, Buenos Aires. I have previously acted on upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas matters worldwide, representing companies and governments. I also work as a commercial advisor on oil and gas projects, and I appear as an expert witness in expert determinations, arbitrations, court hearings and competition and regulatory proceedings.

Dr. Rajendra Ramlogan is the Professor, Commercial and Environmental Law at the University of the West Indies. Professor Ramlogan obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies.  Professor Ramlogan graduated with a Masters of Law in International Legal Studies from the New York University School of Law, and a Doctorate in International Environmental Law from the University of Cambridge.  Professor Ramlogan is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society.  Prior to his university career, Professor Ramlogan worked in the local oil industry, and also enjoyed a stint as a Foreign Associate at the highly prestigious Washington DC law firm, Wilmer, Cutler and Pickering (now Wilmer Hale).  Professor Ramlogan has published numerous books and articles covering subjects such as Business Law, Commercial Law, Judicial Review, Sustainable Development, International Environmental Law, National Environmental Legal systems (Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba), Environmental Health, Environmental Refugees, International Environmental Crimes, Development and the Environment, Environmental Democracy, Human Rights in Japan, International Security and Energy Joint Ventures.

Dr Igiehon’s areas of research, teaching, training and consultancy are: energy and natural resources law and governance; law, development and good use of mineral resources; acquisitions and divestments; international investments protection and arbitration; capital projects contracting procurement and construction; decommissioning; upstream contracts; compliance and assurance.  He supervises PhDs. He has over 20 years international and multi-jurisdictional experience with international oil companies and governments.
